The Hills of Gangtok, Sikkim

MG Road

MG Road, Gangtok, Sikkim

Evening at Mahatma Gandhi Road in Gangtok, Sikkim. It seems every major city in India has this road called MG named after their father of nation.

I found it the most beautiful and relaxing marketplace in India. The evenings there were simply superb. Slight drizzle made temp cool. The crowd was bustling yet some sort of calmness prevailed in the bazaar even during the busiest hour. The exciting moment came when my iPhone caught two free wifi signals as I was sitting on a bench at the one end of the MG Road. The next day, the ninth day of Dashain festival, I went around the town… from the hilltop palace and monastery compound to the flower garden. Lonely but informative exploration.
