Enthusiastic observers and commentators may have claimed Jaipur Literature Festival to be ‘Asia’s largest literary gathering’ but this is a fact that even in the city of Jaipur not many people were aware about the event. In fact, people just outside the venue, Diggi Palace Hotel, had no idea about the festival. The festival was entirely dominated by the English-speaking elites and had apparently made no efforts to bring general people (literate) in the venue and make them aware about literature.
