This is a masonry temple of the 8th century, constructed by Narasimha Varman II, who is also called Rajasimha.

Evidences indicate that the Shore Temple complex was extending further north, south and eastwards.

What remains in the seashore now are only two temple towers. Archeologists are still doing research on this. They have found what is believed to be the remains of a few temples very near the sea.
